Privacy & Personal Information – helping children understand the importance of keeping personal information safe in an age-appropriate way.
Travel Agents & Transport – learning about different ways people travel and the role of travel agents in planning holidays and adventures.
All learning is delivered through play, stories, songs and hands-on experiences, with activities carefully differentiated to meet the needs of both our Under 3’s and Over 3’s.
Caterpillars – Baby Room
This half term, the children will be exploring our nursery themes through a range of sensory, play-based and hands-on experiences designed to support their curiosity and development.
As part of our Water Safety theme, children will enjoy lots of water play opportunities including filling and emptying containers, splashing, pouring and exploring different ways water moves. We will also be introducing exciting ice smash activities, encouraging children to investigate textures, temperatures and cause and effect through play.
To support our learning about the world around us, we will be exploring a variety of small world environments including an airport, sea animals, zoo animals and forest animals. These experiences will encourage imagination, language development and an understanding of different places and creatures.
Throughout the half term, we will also be focusing on a different schema each week, allowing children to explore and learn through their natural play interests and behaviours.
World Days & Special Events
⚽ World Cup Theme
Children will be taking part in football activities, practising kicking balls into goals and developing their physical skills through active play. We will also explore different countries by looking at and painting the colours of flags from around the world.
🌍 Through these activities, children will develop their communication, physical, personal and social skills whilst learning through exploration, play and discovery.
Caterpillars Baby Room – Home Learning
This half term, we will be exploring a different schema each week in nursery. Schemas are repeated patterns of behaviour that help children learn about the world around them through play.
We would love for families to join in by observing your child at home and sharing photographs or observations of them exploring schemas in their everyday play.
You may notice your child:
- Transporting objects from one place to another
- Filling and emptying containers
- Building towers or lining up toys
- Climbing, jumping or exploring different spaces
- Wrapping up dolls, toys or themselves in blankets
- Enjoying posting objects through holes or containers
Please upload photographs and short observations to Famly each week, telling us what your child was doing and what they enjoyed. These shared experiences will help us build a fuller picture of your child’s interests and learning both at nursery and at home.
We look forward to seeing all of the wonderful ways your child explores and learns through play!
📌 Messages for Parents – Baby room
📸 Schema Home Learning
This half term, we will be focusing on a different schema each week. We would love for parents to support this learning at home by sending photographs and short observations on Famly of their child exploring schemas through play. Whether they are transporting, building, filling and emptying, climbing or lining up objects, we would love to see what they are doing at home!
💬 Settling Session Feedback
If your child has recently attended a settling session, please could you take a few moments to respond to the message sent on Famly and provide us with your feedback. Your comments are extremely valuable and help us to continue improving our settling-in process for children and families.
Thank you for your continued support.
Tweenies
This half term, the Tweenies will be exploring a range of exciting themes through hands-on, play-based learning experiences that support their understanding of the world, communication and personal development.
Children will take part in activities linked to sun safety, learning how to stay safe in warm weather through discussions, stories and practical experiences such as wearing hats, staying hydrated and seeking shade.
We will also be exploring the theme of families and Father’s Day, helping children to understand that families can look different and celebrating the special people in our lives through creative and imaginative activities.
To support our world around us and travel theme, children will be learning about holidays and journeys through play. This will include exploring airplanes, seaside adventures, caravans and travel agents, encouraging children to talk about places they have been and places they would like to visit.
All activities will be delivered through fun, engaging experiences that encourage curiosity, language development and imagination.
🌸 Tweenies Home Learning – Nature Bouquet Activity
This half term, we have sent home a special card with a vase outline for your child to take part in a nature learning activity at home.
We would love your child to go on a nature walk with you to explore your local environment and see what flowers, leaves or natural items you can find together. This could be in your garden, a local park, a woodland area or even on a walk around your neighbourhood.
Your child can then pick or collect small flowers (where safe and appropriate) and help to create their very own nature bouquet by arranging them in the vase on their card. This could also include drawings, colouring, or even sticking on natural items such as leaves or grass.
This activity supports children’s:
🌿 Observation skills
🌼 Understanding of the natural world
✋ Fine motor skills
💬 Communication and language as they talk about what they can see and collect
Once completed, please encourage your child to bring their finished vase back into nursery. They will have the opportunity to share their creations with their friends and talk about their nature walk experiences during group time.
We are really looking forward to seeing all of your beautiful and creative nature bouquets!

Reminder – Sun Safety
As the warmer weather continues, please remember the importance of sun safety for all children in the Tweenies room.
We kindly ask that all children come to nursery prepared for outdoor play with:
🧴 Sun cream applied before arrival
👒 Sun hats to protect them from the sun
💧 Water bottles to help them stay hydrated throughout the day
We will continue to support the children in learning about how to stay safe in the sun, including drinking plenty of water and playing in shaded areas where possible.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep the children safe and comfortable during sunny days.
Pre-School & Butterfly room
This half term, our Pre-School children will be taking part in a range of exciting activities to support their school readiness, communication and personal development.
Children will be practising important independence skills linked to school readiness, such as putting on their own jumpers and exploring school uniform items. These activities are helping to build confidence and prepare children for their transition to school.
We will also be enjoying Robot Red phonics fun, supporting early reading and listening skills through playful, engaging activities.
Outdoors, children have been making great use of our new resources and are thoroughly enjoying learning through active play, exploration and teamwork in the fresh air.
We will also be looking at ourselves and what makes us special and unique, encouraging children to talk about their likes, interests, families and individuality.
As part of our home learning link, we would love for children to get involved in cooking and baking activities at home. Many children have shown a real interest in this area, so please feel free to share photos of your child helping in the kitchen, whether it is mixing, decorating or preparing simple foods.
We look forward to seeing all of your wonderful learning and experiences shared from home!
Pre-School & Butterflies Home Learning
This half term, we are continuing to support children’s fine motor skills, cutting skills and early pre-writing development through fun, hands-on activities at home.
🐝 Beehive Shape Activity
We would love your child to complete their beehive activity by exploring shapes, patterns and creativity. Children can colour, decorate, or build their own beehive using different materials such as crayons, paint, collage pieces or natural objects.
✂️ Cutting & Fine Motor Skills
Please support your child in practising their cutting skills using child-safe scissors. They can cut along lines, shapes or simple patterns, helping to develop strength and control in their hands and fingers. You can also encourage activities such as threading, drawing, colouring and playdough to support fine manipulative skills and early writing development.
These activities will help children build confidence and prepare for their next stage of learning in school.
📅 Please return completed work by: Tuesday 1st July
We look forward to seeing all of the children’s fantastic work!
