Transition to New Rooms & School – helping children prepare for their next stage, building confidence, independence and familiarity with new routines.
Sun Safety – learning how to stay safe in the sun, including the importance of wearing hats, using sunscreen and keeping hydrated.
Water Safety – exploring how to stay safe around water through discussions, stories and practical activities.
Technology & ICT – using age-appropriate technology to support learning, creativity and communication.
Online Safety & Screen Time – introducing simple messages about using technology safely and encouraging a healthy balance between screen time and other activities.

Privacy & Personal Information – helping children understand the importance of keeping personal information safe in an age-appropriate way.
Travel Agents & Transport – learning about different ways people travel and the role of travel agents in planning holidays and adventures.
All learning is delivered through play, stories, songs and hands-on experiences, with activities carefully differentiated to meet the needs of both our Under 3s and Over 3s.
🌱 Baby Room – Our Learning This Half Term
This half term, we will be supporting children with their routines, independence and transition skills as they prepare for their next stage. Through group times and daily activities, we will help children become familiar with new routines and build confidence within the room.
The children have been doing wonderfully with their self-care skills and are beginning to understand our daily routines. They are becoming more confident at getting ready for snack and mealtimes, washing their hands, and joining in with songs such as “Please” and “Thank You”.
To support our nursery themes, we will be enjoying lots of sensory and hands-on experiences including beach-themed activities, water play, nature walks and activities linked to special days and events throughout the term. We will also be celebrating Father’s Day and taking part in a variety of fun activities that encourage communication, exploration and social development.
🏡 Babies – Home Learning
We would love for families to continue the learning at home by:
- Going on a nature walk and talking about the things you can see and hear.
- Enjoying messy play and water play activities together.
- Encouraging independence through hand washing and simple daily routines.
Please share photos of your home learning on Famly by Monday 13th July 2026.
Babies – Family Learning Event – Father’s Day Theme
Friday 26th June | 10:00am – 11:00am
We would love to invite all dads, grandads, uncles and special family members to join us for a fun-filled Father’s Day Family Learning Session. Come along and enjoy quality time with your child as you take part in a range of creative activities including card making, colouring and painting.
This is a wonderful opportunity to create special memories together while celebrating the important people in our children’s lives. We look forward to welcoming you for a morning of fun, creativity and family learning.
Tweenies – Our Learning This Half Term
This half term, we will be supporting children as they prepare for their transition to Pre-School. Through a variety of activities, we will help children build confidence, independence and a positive understanding of moving to a new room.
Children will create their own photo books, take part in role play using dolls and small world resources to act out arriving at nursery, and contribute to “All About Me” displays. We will also continue encouraging independence through daily routines such as tidying away toys, washing hands and preparing for mealtimes.
As part of our Sun Safety learning, children will practise putting hats on dolls and teddy bears, create sunshine artwork and learn simple safety phrases such as “hat”, “drink” and “shade”. Outdoor water play activities will provide opportunities to discuss ways to keep cool and stay safe in warm weather.
To celebrate World Ocean Day, we will explore ocean-themed sensory trays filled with water, shells and sea creatures, enjoy fish printing activities and take part in imaginative water play.
Throughout July, we will celebrate National Picnic Month by making fruit kebabs, enjoying outdoor story times and taking part in picnic-themed activities.
Our Technology and ICT learning will include using battery-operated toys, exploring simple cause-and-effect resources and investigating old keyboards and telephones within role play activities. We will also introduce simple messages around Online Safety, encouraging children to ask a grown-up before using screens.
Children will further explore the world around them through our Travel and Holidays theme, where they will create treasure maps, make passports, explore maps and postcards, role play in a travel agent’s office and even taste foods from different countries.
These activities will help develop communication, personal, social and emotional development, understanding of the world and early problem-solving skills through play-based learning.

🌟 Pre-School Room – Our Learning This Half Term
This half term, we will be supporting children with their transition to school while continuing to develop their confidence, independence and readiness for their next big adventure.
To support our transition theme, we have transformed our home corner into a school environment complete with uniforms, registers and role-play resources. This will help children become familiar with school routines and expectations through play. Later in the term, we will be creating our very own “Fixbees Travel Agents”, where children can explore holidays, transport and travel using real brochures, maps and travel-related resources.
As part of our technology learning, children will have opportunities to use real technology, including cameras, tablets and computers, helping them develop confidence and understanding when using digital equipment safely and appropriately.
Our water safety and investigation activities will include a variety of exciting experiments such as exploring sinking and floating, comparing heavy and light objects, and discussing ways to stay safe around water. Children will also take part in discussions about staying safe in the sun and keeping cool during warmer weather.
To support our travel theme, children will create postcards, learn about sending mail, make road maps, and explore globes and maps to learn about different countries and journeys around the world.
Throughout the half term, we will also be celebrating a number of special events including:
World Ocean Day – 8th June
World Crocodile Day – 17th June
World Pest Day – 6th June
These activities will provide exciting opportunities for children to develop their communication, problem-solving, investigation and understanding of the world through hands-on learning experiences.
🏡 Pre-School Home Learning
This half term, each child will receive a My Family Adventure Book to take home. We would love you to fill it with photographs, drawings, tickets, keepsakes or short notes about adventures and special moments you have shared together.
What counts as an adventure?
An adventure can be anything that is exciting, memorable or new for your child. It doesn’t have to be a holiday or a day trip!
Some ideas include:
⭐ Learning to ride a bike or scooter
⭐ Baking or cooking together
⭐ Going swimming
⭐ Visiting family or friends
⭐ A walk in the park or woods
⭐ A bus, train or plane journey
⭐ Camping in the garden
⭐ Looking after a pet
⭐ Trying a new activity or hobby
⭐ Celebrating a birthday or special occasion
⭐ Going to the library
⭐ Helping in the garden
⭐ A family movie or games night
⭐ A holiday or weekend away
Your child can be as creative as they like by adding drawings, photographs, stickers, tickets or writing about their favourite memories. We will then invite the children to share their books during group time, helping them develop confidence, communication skills and an understanding of each other’s experiences.
📖 Please return your Adventure Book during the week commencing 13th July 2026.
We can’t wait to hear about all the wonderful adventures your family has enjoyed!
🧸 Family Learning Event – Teddy Bears’ Picnic
Friday 24th July | 2:00pm – 3:30pm
As we come to the end of another wonderful year, we would like to invite all of our families to join us for a special Teddy Bears’ Picnic. This will be our final family learning event of the year and a lovely opportunity to celebrate together before our Pre-School children begin their exciting journey to school.
Bring along your favourite teddy bear and join us for an afternoon of fun, games, stories and picnic-themed activities. It will be a chance for children, families and staff to spend time together, make memories and celebrate all the achievements of the past year.
As this event takes place during the summer holidays, families whose children do not usually attend nursery during the holidays are still very welcome to join us. However, we kindly ask that parents or carers remain with their child throughout the event.
We look forward to celebrating with you and giving our school leavers a special send-off before they start their next adventure!
