Welcome to our final half term before the summer holidays! This term is packed with exciting opportunities for children to learn, explore and prepare for their next steps. Through a range of engaging activities, we will be focusing on transition, sun and water safety, technology, travel and holidays, helping children build confidence, independence and an understanding of the world around them whilst having lots of fun along the way.

🌸 Our Learning Themes This Half Term
This half term, children across the nursery will be exploring a range of exciting themes that support their confidence, curiosity and overall development.
Across the nursery, our themes include:
Transition to New Rooms & School – helping children prepare for their next stage, building confidence, independence and familiarity with new routines.
Sun Safety – learning how to stay safe in the sun, including the importance of wearing hats, using sunscreen and keeping hydrated.
Water Safety – exploring how to stay safe around water through discussions, stories and practical activities.
Technology & ICT – using age-appropriate technology to support learning, creativity and communication.
Online Safety & Screen Time – introducing simple messages about using technology safely and encouraging a healthy balance between screen time and other activities.
Holiday Maps & Travel – exploring different places around the world, looking at maps and talking about holidays and journeys.
Privacy & Personal Information – helping children understand the importance of keeping personal information safe in an age-appropriate way.
Travel Agents & Transport – learning about different ways people travel and the role of travel agents in planning holidays and adventures.
All learning is delivered through play, stories, songs and hands-on experiences, with activities carefully differentiated to meet the needs of both our Under 3’s and Over 3’s.
🌱 Baby Room – Our Learning This Half Term
This half term, our youngest children will be exploring a variety of exciting experiences that support their confidence, independence and overall development through play and hands-on learning.
In Honeybees, we have been focusing on:
Sun Safety – Children are learning about staying safe in the sunshine by practising putting on hats and helping to apply sun cream with adult guidance. We are also encouraging children to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Water Safety – Through fun activities, including our exciting Pool Party, children will explore water play while learning simple messages about staying safe around water.
Self-Soothing & Self-Regulation – We are supporting children to recognise and manage their emotions by developing calming strategies, building confidence and encouraging independence during daily routines.
Exploring the World Around Us – Through discussions, stories, sensory experiences and activities linked to different countries and cultures, children will begin to learn about the wider world around them.
Children’s Art Week (27th June – 12th July) – We will be taking part in creative activities and sensory art experiences, encouraging children to explore colours, textures and materials while expressing themselves through art.
All learning is delivered through play, songs, stories and hands-on experiences, helping children learn in a fun, meaningful and age-appropriate way.
🏡 Baby room Home Learning
This half term, we are encouraging children to develop their independence and self-help skills at home.
Can you put your clothes on?
Encourage your child to practise putting on simple items of clothing such as:
- Shoes
- Socks
- Hats
Praise their efforts, even if they need a little help. Building these skills helps to develop confidence and independence.
Can you help prepare a snack?
With close adult supervision, encourage your child to:
- Peel a banana
- Help chop a banana using a child-safe knife
This is a great way to develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and confidence in everyday tasks.
Please feel free to share any photos or observations of your child’s achievements with us through Famly.
Baby Room – Family Learning Event – Father’s Day Brunch – Monday 15th June
We would like to invite fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers and other special male role models to join us for a special Father’s Day Brunch.
This will be a lovely opportunity for children and their families to spend quality time together, take part in activities and celebrate the important people in their lives.
We look forward to welcoming you for a morning of fun, learning and special memories.

📌 A Gentle Reminder for baby room Parents:
Sun Safety Reminder
As the weather gets warmer, please ensure your child comes to nursery each day with:
- A sun hat
- Sun cream (if required)
- A named water bottle
Please Label Everything
We kindly ask that all of your child’s belongings, including hats, water bottles, coats, bags and clothing, are clearly labelled with their name. This helps us return items quickly and reduces the number of lost belongings.

🐝 Bumblebee Room – Our Learning this Half Term
This half term, the children in Bumblebees will be exploring a range of exciting activities that support their confidence, independence and understanding of the world around them.
We will be focusing on:
🚶 Transitions – Supporting children who are moving up from the Baby Room and preparing those who will be transitioning to Pre-School. Through visits, discussions and familiarisation activities, we will help children feel confident and secure in their new environments.
❄️ Ice Play & Exploration – Children will investigate ice through sensory play, encouraging curiosity, language development and early scientific thinking.
📚 Local Community Trips – We will be taking walks to our local library and park, helping children learn about their community and develop confidence when exploring the world around them.
📝 Recognising Our Names – Children will be encouraged to recognise and respond to their own name through games, activities and daily routines, supporting early literacy skills.
👕 Developing Independence – We will be encouraging children to dress themselves, put on their own coats and manage simple self-care tasks to build confidence and independence.
☀️ Sun Safety & Holidays Around the World – Through discussions, stories and activities, children will learn about holidays, different places around the world and how to stay safe in the sun.
💧 Observing the Environment – Children will explore and observe features within our nursery environment, including our solar panels and water fountain, helping them develop an awareness of the world around them.
🎨 Children’s Art Week – Children will take part in a variety of creative experiences, exploring different materials, colours and textures while expressing themselves through art.
Bumblebees Family Learning Event – Father’s Day Tea – Tuesday 16th June
We would like to invite fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers and other special male role models to join us for our Father’s Day Tea. This will be a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together, take part in activities and create special memories with their children.

Bumblebees Family Learning Event – Teddy Bears’ Picnic at the Park – Tuesday 23rd June
Join us for a fun-filled Teddy Bears’ Picnic at the Park! Children are invited to bring along their favourite teddy bear for an afternoon of outdoor fun, games and picnic activities.
Please meet at the nursery at 2:30pm, where we will walk to the park together with the Bumblebees team.
This is a lovely opportunity for children and families to enjoy time together, socialise with friends and make special memories.

Bumblebees Home Learning – Show and Tell – Our Adventures!
We would love for children to bring in photographs from a recent holiday, adventure, family day out or special trip to share with their friends.
This is a wonderful opportunity for children to develop their confidence, communication and language skills as they talk about their experiences and memories.
Photographs can be sent via Famly or brought into nursery for your child to share during our Show and Tell sessions. We can’t wait to hear all about their adventures!
📌 Messages & Reminders for Bumblebees Parents:
Please Label Sun Hats
As we are spending more time outdoors, please ensure your child’s sun hat is clearly labelled with their name. This helps us make sure hats are returned to the correct child and don’t get mixed up.
Spare Clothes Needed
Please make sure your child has a full set of spare clothes at nursery. If your child is currently toilet training, we kindly ask for plenty of spare clothing, including underwear, socks and trousers/shorts, in case of accidents.
Suitable Summer Footwear
Please send your child in comfortable, suitable summer shoes that allow them to run, climb and play safely both indoors and outdoors.

Pre-School Room (3 – 4 Year olds)
This half term, our Pre-School children will be taking part in a variety of exciting activities designed to support their independence, confidence and preparation for school.
We will be focusing on:
School Readiness & Transitions – Children will be preparing for their move to school through discussions, role play and activities that encourage independence and confidence in new routines.
Developing Independence – We will be practising important self-care skills, including putting on our own coats and shoes, helping children become more confident and self-sufficient.
Recognising Letters in Our Names – Children will be exploring the letters in their names through games and activities, supporting early literacy and letter recognition.
School Role Play Area – Our role play area will be transformed into a school environment where children can explore classroom routines, develop social skills and build confidence about starting school.
Families & Communities – We will be talking about our families, where we live and the people who are important to us, helping children develop a sense of belonging and understanding of the world around them.
Travel Agents & Holidays – Children will enjoy a travel agent role play area, discussing holidays, adventures and different places they have visited or would like to explore.
Our Adventures – Through discussions, photographs and sharing experiences, children will talk about holidays, family trips and exciting days out, helping to develop communication and language skills.

These experiences will provide children with opportunities to learn, celebrate, explore their community and create special memories with their friends before they move on to school.
Pre-school – Home Learning – Graduation Song Practice
As we prepare for our Graduation Celebration, we would love for children to practise their graduation song at home. Singing the song regularly will help children build confidence and feel ready for their special day.

Pre-school – Family Learning Event – Graduation Day Treats – Flapjack Baking – Wednesday 8th July – 2 – 3 pm
Families are invited to join us for a special graduation-themed baking session where we will be making delicious flapjack treats together.
This will be a lovely opportunity for children and their families to spend time together, develop their baking skills and celebrate the children’s achievements as they prepare for their next adventure at school.

Reminders
✔ Running Late? Call ahead to avoid late collection fees (£10 for the first 15 minutes, then £1 per minute).
✔ No Toys from Home: To prevent loss or distraction, children should not bring personal toys.
✔ Sickness: Please ring the nursery on each day your child is unwell to inform us and also update on Famly.
Funding & Childcare Updates
- 30 Hours Funding Deadline: Apply by 31st August 2026 if your child turns 3 before this date.
- 15 Hours Funding: If your child is aged 2 or 3, they may be eligible for 15 hours of funded childcare per week. Please check your eligibility and apply as soon as possible to secure a place.
- Funding for Babies: Some families may be eligible for funded childcare for babies under 2 years old, depending on their circumstances. Please speak to our team for more information on how to apply.
