Welcome to our final half term before the summer holidays! This term is packed with exciting opportunities for children to learn, explore and prepare for their next steps. Through a range of engaging activities, we will be focusing on transition, sun and water safety, technology, travel and holidays, helping children build confidence, independence and an understanding of the world around them whilst having lots of fun along the way.

🌸 Our Learning Themes This Half Term
This half term, children across the nursery will be exploring a range of exciting themes that support their confidence, curiosity and overall development.
Across the nursery, our themes include:
Transition to New Rooms & School – helping children prepare for their next stage, building confidence, independence and familiarity with new routines.
Sun Safety – learning how to stay safe in the sun, including the importance of wearing hats, using sunscreen and keeping hydrated.
Water Safety – exploring how to stay safe around water through discussions, stories and practical activities.
Technology & ICT – using age-appropriate technology to support learning, creativity and communication.
Online Safety & Screen Time – introducing simple messages about using technology safely and encouraging a healthy balance between screen time and other activities.
Holiday Maps & Travel – exploring different places around the world, looking at maps and talking about holidays and journeys.
Privacy & Personal Information – helping children understand the importance of keeping personal information safe in an age-appropriate way.
Travel Agents & Transport – learning about different ways people travel and the role of travel agents in planning holidays and adventures.
All learning is delivered through play, stories, songs and hands-on experiences, with activities carefully differentiated to meet the needs of both our Under 3’s and Over 3’s.
Honeybees Room (Baby Room)
This half term, our youngest children will be exploring our nursery themes through a range of sensory, play-based and hands-on experiences designed to support their development and curiosity.
Summer Holidays & Travel
Children will take part in summer holiday role play activities and explore travel-themed fascination trays containing items such as passports, aeroplanes, suitcases and holiday photographs. We will also learn about different countries and cultures through simple around-the-world activities.
Sun Safety
We will help children learn how to stay safe in the sun by encouraging them to wear sun hats, apply sun cream before outdoor play and stay hydrated throughout the day.
Water Safety
Children will enjoy water play activities both indoors and outdoors while learning simple messages about staying safe around water through stories, songs and discussions.
Technology & ICT
Babies will explore a variety of age-appropriate technology toys that encourage cause-and-effect learning, curiosity and early problem-solving skills.
Travel Agents & Transport
Our travel-themed fascination trays will introduce children to different forms of transport and holiday adventures, encouraging imaginative play and language development.
Special Events

These special days will be celebrated through age-appropriate activities that encourage movement, creativity, communication and positive relationships.
Honey Bees – Home Learning
June – Favourite Books
Share your child’s favourite book at home. Spend time looking at the pictures together, talking about what you can see and encouraging your child to point to familiar objects or characters. Reading together helps to develop language, communication and a love of books.
July – Physical Development
Support your child’s fine and gross motor development through simple activities at home. Fine motor activities could include stacking blocks, posting objects into containers, turning pages in books or mark making with chunky crayons. Gross motor activities could include crawling through tunnels, kicking or rolling balls, dancing to music, climbing at the park or practising balance and coordination through active play.

We would like to invite all fathers, grandfathers, uncles and special male role models to join us for a Father’s Day celebration. Children and their families will enjoy a range of activities together, creating special memories and celebrating the important people in their lives.
🐝 Bumblebee Room (2-year-old room downstairs)
This half term, children will be exploring our nursery themes through a variety of exciting, hands-on activities that encourage learning through play.
Summer Holidays & Travel
Children will explore a beach-themed role play area and learn about holidays around the world. We will look at maps, passports, tickets and aeroplanes, encouraging children to role play going on holiday and travelling to different countries.
Sun Safety
We will discuss how to stay safe in the sun by learning about the importance of wearing sun hats, applying sun cream and keeping hydrated during warm weather.
Technology & ICT
Children will have opportunities to use age-appropriate technology to support their learning, communication and creativity.
Holiday Brochure Collages
To support physical development, children will practise their cutting skills by cutting out pictures from holiday brochures to create their own travel collages.

Bumblebees – Home Learning – June – Summer Holiday Memories
We would love for families to collect photographs of holidays, days out or special summer activities. Children can bring in their photographs to help us create a Summer Memories Album. This will encourage children to talk about their experiences, develop their communication skills and share special memories with their friends.

Join us for a fun and relaxing pamper session before the summer holidays. Children and their families can enjoy a variety of activities designed to promote wellbeing, self-care and quality time together.
👑 Queenbees Room (3-4-year-old room downstairs)
This half term, children will be exploring our nursery themes through a variety of exciting and engaging activities that encourage learning through play.
Summer Holidays & Travel
We will create a holiday-themed role play area with bags, sun hats, sun cream and other holiday accessories to encourage imaginative play and conversations about holidays and travel. Children will also take part in travel agent role play, exploring different destinations and ways to travel.
Sun Safety
Children will learn about staying safe in the sun by discussing the importance of wearing sun hats, applying sun cream and keeping hydrated. We will also explore beach-themed activities in the sand and talk about the items we use when visiting the beach.
Technology & ICT
Children will have opportunities to explore a range of age-appropriate technology toys, learning how to operate them and developing their understanding of technology through play. Technology-themed tuff trays will provide further opportunities for investigation and discovery.
Transition to School
As some children prepare for their next stage, we will be practising our graduation songs and celebrating their achievements as they get ready for school.
Ice Cream Theme
Children will enjoy a variety of ice cream-themed activities, encouraging creativity, communication and imaginative play while exploring summer experiences.
Queenbees – Home Learning
Encourage your child to practise dressing independently by putting on and taking off their coat, shoes and other items of clothing. Developing these self-care skills will help build confidence and support their transition to school.
We would also love you to talk with your child about any previous holidays or upcoming trips. Encourage them to share where they went (or are going), what they saw and what they enjoyed. You could look at photographs together to help develop their language, communication and understanding of the world.

This half term, children will be exploring our nursery themes through a variety of fun, practical and engaging activities.
Transition & Independence
Children will be encouraged to practise putting on their coats and shoes independently, helping to build confidence and develop self-care skills. We will also continue to encourage turn-taking and sharing with friends during everyday play.
Sun Safety
Children will learn about staying safe in the sun and will be encouraged to apply sun cream with support, helping them understand the importance of protecting their skin during sunny weather.
Water Safety & Summer Exploration
We will create a Sea World area where children can explore sea creatures, talk about life under the sea and learn about water through play. Children will also take part in exciting ice experiments, encouraging curiosity and exploration.
Technology & ICT
Children will explore simple technology through activities such as using torches, learning how to switch them on and off, and investigating how different objects work. They will also create robots using cardboard and a variety of craft materials.
Privacy & Personal Information
Through discussions and activities, children will learn about the important adults in their lives and begin to understand who they can go to for help and support.
Father’s Day
Children will create special Father’s Day cards and gifts to celebrate their fathers and special male role models.

These activities will support children’s communication, physical development, creativity and understanding of the world around them.
2 Bees – Home Learning
June – Independence Skills
Please encourage your child to practise putting their coat on independently. This will help build confidence, self-care skills and support their readiness for the next stage of learning.
July – Online Safety & Trusted Adults
Talk with your child about online safety in an age-appropriate way and help them understand who their trusted adults are. Encourage them to identify the grown-ups they can go to if they need help, feel unsure, or are worried about anything.
2 Bees – Family Learning Events
Tuesday 24th June – Water & Sea Exploration – Morning & Afternoon Sessions
Join us for a fun, hands-on session exploring water play, ice melting experiments and sea creatures. Children and families will take part in sensory activities that encourage curiosity, exploration and learning through play.
Monday 14th July – Holidays, Maps & Travel Agents – Morning & Afternoon Sessions
Come along and explore our travel-themed activities. Families will enjoy looking at maps, passports, tickets and engaging in travel agent role play, helping children learn about holidays and different places around the world.
🐝 Busy Bees Room (upstairs 3-4-year-old room)
This half term, children will be exploring our nursery themes through a range of hands-on, engaging and meaningful activities that support independence, communication and creativity.
Independence Skills
Children will be supported to build their independence throughout the daily routine. This includes using the bathroom, changing clothes when needed, accessing their own water and preparing for snack time. These experiences help children to develop confidence, self-help skills and readiness for their next stage of learning.
Summer Holidays & Travel
We will use large-scale junk modelling to encourage imaginative play linked to travel and holidays. Children will explore ideas such as “Where are we going?”, “How are we getting there?” and “Who are we travelling with?”, supporting communication, language and storytelling skills.
Around the World & Sport
Children will explore different countries through football-themed activities, including ball games and discussions about teams from around the world. This will support an understanding of diversity, teamwork and global awareness.
Father’s Day
Children will take part in Father’s Day activities including making cards, sharing biscuits and talking about the special people in their lives.
Busy Bees – Home Learning
June – Graduation Practice
Please support your child at home by practising the graduation song using the YouTube video “I’m On My Way”. Encourage them to join in with the singing and actions to help build confidence for their upcoming celebration.
We would also love children to talk about their favourite parts of nursery. Encourage them to share special memories with family members and friends, helping to develop communication skills and recall of experiences.
Busy Bees – Family Learning Events
Tuesday 23rd June – Father’s Day Celebration
Join us for a special Father’s Day event where children will celebrate their fathers and special male role models. Families can enjoy activities together, including creative making, sharing time and fun experiences designed to create special memories.
Friday 3rd July – Graduation Day
We are excited to invite families to our Graduation Day celebration. This special event will celebrate the children’s achievements and mark their transition to the next stage of their learning journey. Families will enjoy performances, songs and a celebration of the children’s time with us.
📌 Messages for Busy Bees Parents
Please can we remind all parents to ensure children have a full set of spare clothes in nursery at all times. This includes underwear, socks, trousers/leggings and a top.
Accidents and messy play are a normal part of learning, so having spare clothing available helps us to keep children comfortable throughout the day and allows them to continue taking part in activities with confidence.

🐝 Pre-school Stingers (PS@S) (3-4-year-old room, back building)
This half term, children will be exploring a range of exciting themes through purposeful play, hands-on experiences and rich learning opportunities.
Transitions to School
Children will explore school readiness through dressing in school uniforms, teacher role play and designing their own uniforms. We will also share and enjoy a range of reading books to support imagination, language and confidence as they prepare for their next step.
Sun Safety
Children will learn about sun safety through role play in the home corner, including dressing in summer clothes and talking about how to stay safe in the sun.
Water Play & Exploration
Children will explore water in different ways, including filling and emptying containers, using syringes and developing language such as “full” and “half full”. We will also explore natural water sources such as rain, puddles, rivers and canals, helping children to understand the world around them.
Animals & Habitats
Children will learn about animals that live in different types of water environments, including sea animals and pond life such as frogs and ducks, supporting their understanding of habitats and living things.
Online Safety & Screen Use
Children will explore age-appropriate educational games and programmes. We will also talk about the importance of telling trusted adults if they receive any messages or see anything that worries them.
Holiday Maps & Travel Agents
Children will take part in role play using maps of the world and airport settings. They will explore travel agents, holidays and different places around the world, encouraging imagination and communication.
Around the World / School Day
Children will enjoy “School Day” role play where they pretend to go to school, meet their teachers and explore what a typical school day might look like. This helps to support confidence, imagination and understanding of transitions.
National Writing Day
Children will take part in mark-making and early writing activities, exploring different tools and materials to develop their communication and literacy skills.
Father’s Day
Children will celebrate Father’s Day by creating cards and small gifts, and talking about the special people in their lives.
International Mud Day
Children will explore messy play opportunities by making marks in mud, encouraging sensory exploration, creativity and physical development.
Water Day
Children will investigate different ways of collecting and transporting water through fun, hands-on activities, supporting problem-solving skills and early scientific understanding.
Pre-school stingers – Home learning
June – Independence Skills
Please encourage your child to practise dressing and undressing independently. This includes putting on and taking off socks, shoes, coats and learning how to use zips. These skills help build confidence and support children’s readiness for school.
July – Holiday Diary
We would love children to share their favourite holiday memory. This could be a recent trip or a special day out. Please encourage your child to talk about where they went, what they did and what they enjoyed.
Pre-School Stingers – Family Learning Events
Friday 20th June – Father’s Day Activities – 10:30am – 11:30am
Join us for a special Father’s Day session where children and families can take part in a range of creative activities. This will be a lovely opportunity to celebrate fathers and special male role models through play, making and shared experiences.
Tuesday 8th July – Airport Role Play & World Travel – 10:30am – 11:30am
Come along and explore our airport role play area. Families will enjoy using world maps, exploring different holiday destinations and taking part in imaginative travel-themed activities together.
📌 Messages for Pre-school Parents
Please can we remind all parents and visitors to ensure that all gates are kept locked at all times. For the safety of all children, please do not allow anyone else into the nursery when entering or leaving the site.
If your child is going to be absent from nursery, please ring the office to let us know.

✔ Running Late? Call ahead to avoid late collection fees (£10 for the first 15 minutes, then £1 per minute).
✔ No Toys from Home: To prevent loss or distraction, children should not bring personal toys.
✔ Sickness: Please ring the nursery on each day your child is unwell to inform us.
Funding & Childcare Updates
- 30 Hours Funding Deadline: Apply by 31st August 2026 if your child turns 3 before this date.
- 15 Hours Funding: If your child is aged 2 or 3, they may be eligible for 15 hours of funded childcare per week. Please check your eligibility and apply as soon as possible to secure a place.
- Funding for Babies: Some families may be eligible for funded childcare for babies under 2 years old, depending on their circumstances. Please speak to our team for more information on how to apply.
