Fixbees Newsletter – April 2026

Fixbees Newsletter April 2026

Fixbees Newsletter

🌸 Welcome Back
We hope you all had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed some special time with your families. Since returning to nursery, the children have settled back in wonderfully and have already been busy exploring a range of exciting learning experiences. This newsletter shares an overview of what we have been doing since Easter, along with our planned themes and activities for the half term ahead across all rooms.

Staff update

We are pleased to welcome Claire to the team, who has settled in very well and is already making a positive contribution to the nursery.

We also have Rukhsana joining us as a bank member of staff. She will be supporting the team and covering shifts as and when needed.

Fees Update

Please be advised that nursery fees increased from April in line with rising operational costs to ensure we can continue to provide high-quality care, learning opportunities and resources for all children. We also want to remind parents that we no longer offer discounted fees for holidays or absences. As places are booked and contracted for your child’s agreed attendance days, full fees will apply regardless of any holidays taken or occasional days missed. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

🏆 Company Awards Evening

We recently attended our company awards evening, which was a lovely and successful event bringing together all four nurseries to celebrate the hard work, dedication and achievements of our teams. Staff thoroughly enjoyed the evening and it was a wonderful opportunity to recognise and appreciate everyone’s commitment across the company.

We are proud to share this year’s award winners:
Above & Beyond Award – Grace
Heart of the Family Award (voted for by parents) – Aysha S
New Bee Award – Esha (awarded to one of our newest team members who has worked incredibly hard to settle in, stand out, and become a valued part of the team)
Dream Team Award (best functioning room and team) – Pre-School Room

A big congratulation to all of our winners, and a huge thank you to all staff across the company for their continued passion, teamwork and commitment to providing the very best care and learning experiences for our children.

🌸 Our Learning Themes This Half Term

This half term, children across the nursery will be exploring a range of exciting themes that support their confidence, curiosity and overall development.

Across the nursery, our themes include:

Planting & Germination – exploring how things grow, planting seeds and caring for plants.
Animals & Life Cycles – learning about different animals and how they grow and change over time, including the bean life cycle.
Pets – talking about our own pets and how to care for animals.
Mental Health Awareness – supporting children to understand their feelings, build confidence and develop positive relationships.
The Sea & Ocean Animals – discovering underwater life and learning about different sea creatures.
Bees & Pollination – understanding the role of bees in nature and how they help plants grow.
Recycling & Sustainability – learning how to look after our environment and the importance of reducing waste.
ICT – using age-appropriate technology to support learning, creativity and communication.
Healthy Body, Happy Me – promoting healthy eating, exercise, self-care and overall wellbeing.

All learning is delivered through play, stories, songs and hands-on experiences, with activities carefully differentiated to meet the needs of both our Under 3’s and Over 3’s.

🌱 Baby Room –  Our Learning This Half Term

Since returning after the Easter break, our Baby Room children have already begun exploring some of our exciting half term themes through hands-on, sensory experiences.

We have been exploring growth and planting by investigating different textures such as flowers and soil, giving the children opportunities to touch, feel and discover the natural world around them. The children have also shown great curiosity as we observe our caterpillars, helping introduce early understanding of animals and life cycles.

To celebrate Earth Day, the children took part in creative activities using blue and green handprints, encouraging early awareness of looking after our world.

Over the coming weeks, we will continue to build on this learning by exploring the life cycle of a bean, as well as celebrating Eid ul Adha through themed activities and experiences.

🏡 Babies – Home Learning

We would love for you to take your child on a nature walk in your local park. Look out for things you can see, hear or touch such as flowers, trees, birds or insects. Please send us your pictures via Famly or email – we can’t wait to see what you discover! 🌿

Tweenies – Our Learning This Half Term

This half term in Tweenies, we will be bringing our themes to life through hands-on, practical activities that support children’s independence, curiosity and development.

We will be focusing on healthy lifestyles through our 5-a-day activities, where children will be encouraged to cut and sort their own snack, helping to build independence and make healthy choices. Alongside this, we will be carrying out teeth brushing activities to support children in understanding the importance of oral hygiene and how to look after their own teeth.

Our learning will also explore life cycles, how food grows, and how animals change as they grow, using a range of engaging activities and discussions. We will be providing lots of small world trays and play opportunities to encourage imagination and deepen understanding of these themes.

To spark curiosity and support learning, we have introduced more age-appropriate technology into our room, helping children explore, create and communicate in new ways.

We have also been taking part in recycling activities, and this will continue to be embedded into our daily routine as we encourage children to care for their environment.

🏡 Tweenies Home Learning

Children will take part in planting a seedling at nursery as part of an adult-led activity. They will then bring it home to nurture and observe its growth. We encourage you to help your child care for their plant and talk about the changes they see as it grows.

Please send pictures of your seed growing via Famly or our nursery email – we would love to see their progress! 🌿

📌 Messages for Parents – Tweenie Room

Please can we kindly ask that you send your child in with a set of spare clothes. We take part in lots of messy play activities, and while this is great for learning and development, it does mean children can get quite messy!

Having extra clothes at nursery helps us keep your child comfortable throughout the day. Thank you for your support 😊

🌟 Pre-School Room – Our Learning This Half Term

This half term in Pre-School, we will be exploring a wide range of exciting themes through engaging, hands-on activities that support children’s confidence, independence and understanding of the world.

We will be focusing on healthy lifestyles by sorting healthy and unhealthy foods, helping children to make positive choices and understand how to look after their bodies.

Our learning will include exploring life cycles, such as the caterpillar and the life cycle of a bean, as well as learning about pets and minibeasts. These topics will be supported through discussions, activities and real-life observations.

As part of this, we are excited to share that one of our nursery parents has a pet spider and has kindly agreed to visit us for a special Show & Tell session. This will give the children a fantastic real-life opportunity to learn about minibeasts and ask questions.

If any other families have pets at home and would like to bring them in to share with the children, please speak to a member of staff—we would love to involve you! This also helps to build children’s confidence, as they feel proud and excited when their family is part of their nursery experience.

During Mental Health Awareness Week, we will be sharing The Colour Monster story to help children understand and talk about their feelings in a safe and supportive way.

We will also be learning Makaton signs to support communication and inclusion.

We will also be holding a first aid session with the children to introduce basic safety awareness.

Children will enjoy nature walks in our local woods, where they can explore wildlife and the natural environment, as well as take part in observational drawings to develop their creativity and attention to detail.

We will also be taking part in a range of special awareness days and events, including:

  • International Day of Light – 16th May
  • World Bee Day – 20th May
  • World Turtle Day – 23rd May
  • Mental Health Awareness Week – beginning 11th May

🏡 Pre-School Home Learning

For home learning, children will be creating a life cycle of a butterfly using the resources provided. Each child will be given a paper plate and a life cycle worksheet, which they will need to cut out and arrange in the correct order on the plate.

Children (with support from an adult if needed) can decorate their plate to make it personal, or even add pictures if they are lucky enough to spot real butterflies.

This activity will help support their understanding of how living things grow and change in a fun and creative way. We look forward to seeing their wonderful creations!

Family Learning Event – Teddy Bear Picnic

We will be hosting a Teddy Bear Picnic for our Pre-School children and families. Please bring your child’s favourite teddy along to join in the fun! Assorted sandwiches and nibbles will be provided.

Date & time: To be confirmed
