Birkbees held their Autumn term parents evening on the 5th December. It was wonderful to see all the parents there eager to discuss their child’s progress and development, school readiness and termly assessments.

As our focus is home learning, we advised parents o the important of a close link with nursery and discussed activities to do at home to promote literacy and numeracy.

Earlier this term we had a sponsored read and listen which parents took part in to raise money for new nursery books. This was a ideal way to promote literacy, with children being sponsored to listen to stories read at home. At our parents evening Lisa from Usbourne books had a stall with a wide range of books, games and jig-saws to promote literacy and early reading. Proceeds from these two events helped us to get £110 worth of books for nursery.
