Children are naturally curious about their world and enjoy exploring their surroundings, because of their inquiring minds children are eager to know why things are the way they are and will ask many questions about their immediate environment.

We are currently leaning about the season Autumn so I decided to take the children on an adventure to Fixby woods. On the walk the children observed their surroundings and listened to the birds tweet and collected different Autumn materials such as acorns, twigs, leaves and pine cones. The children found a bird’s nest and we even came across a den that was hidden in the woods and we took a venture inside it. On the way back I asked the children what they enjoyed about their walk and one of the children said ‘watching the leaves fall down’ and all the children began to sing our Autumn song. ‘All the leaves are falling down’. Childhood is the best time to encourage and nurture early interests in nature.
