Nursery Rhymes Newsletter – December 2025

Nursery Rhymes Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

Wow, what a wonderful, fun-filled year we have had! So much learning, exploring, and lovely experiences. Myself, Jodie, and the whole Nursery Rhymes team want to thank you all for your continued support and for giving us the pleasure of being part of your child’s learning journey.

As the year comes to a close and the weather changes, please remember to send your children with:

  • Appropriate footwear for outdoor play
  • Hats and scarves to keep warm
  • Extra spare clothes for accidents or messy play
  • A lunch box that follows our policy — with the right amount and healthy choices

We can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store! Keep your eyes peeled for our January Parents’ Celebration Evening on 13th January — we look forward to seeing you all there.

Thank you again for being such a wonderful part of the Nursery Rhymes community — here’s to another amazing year ahead!

Important Lunch Box Notice

From January, all parents who provide a packed lunch for their child will be asked to go through the lunch box with a member of staff before the session starts. If the lunch provided is not suitable or does not meet our healthy lunch box expectations, we will ask you to either change it that day or we will provide your child with a nursery cooked lunch instead.

This is to ensure every child has a balanced, nutritious meal that supports their health and wellbeing throughout the day. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

📲 Famly App – Update

Since introducing Famly, we’ve been so pleased to see how confidently everyone is using it. Families are now even more connected with nursery life, and it’s been lovely to see parents engaging with updates and sharing messages with the team.

We use Famly newsfeed to share news, event posters, and reminders, so keep an eye on the newsfeed for the latest updates. We also post pictures of the children and their daily activities, as well as events happening in nursery, on our Instagram and Facebook pages — so take a look there too!

If you haven’t already, please make sure your permissions on Famly are up to date to let us know whether your child can appear on social media.

Just a reminder: please update your contacts on Famly if you haven’t already done so. We require three emergency contacts in addition to the parents.

Also, when January invoices are sent out, please check the box at the top of the invoice rather than looking at the monthly breakdowns.

We’ll continue using Famly to keep communication clear and helpful, making sure you always feel informed and involved in your child’s day.

Medication

As we continue to ensure children’s safety and wellbeing, we kindly ask parents to let us know at drop-off if their child has had any medication that morning—especially paracetamol or ibuprofen—and the exact time it was given. This helps us avoid accidental double-dosing and ensures we can monitor your child appropriately throughout the day.

Please also make sure that any medication given at home, or brought into nursery, is recorded on the correct Famly form so our team has accurate and up-to-date information. Your support with this helps us respond safely and quickly should your child become unwell while in our care.

👨👩👧 Family Learning Events

We are pleased to share that our Family Learning sessions have been very successful this year. Parents and carers have given lovely feedback about how much they enjoy being able to step into their child’s learning environment and join in with activities together. It has been wonderful to see children proudly sharing their learning with their families.

We would love for you to join us for our upcoming Family Learning sessions this term.

Exact times for each session will be confirmed closer to the date. If you haven’t been able to come along yet but would like to, please let us know what days and times work best for you — we want to make these sessions as accessible as possible for everyone. These events are a great opportunity to celebrate learning and spend some special time together as a family.

Our Proud Moments

Caterpillar Room

In the Caterpillar Room, we have been celebrating lots of important milestones. Some of our children have taken their very first steps, while others have been crawling or learning to stand by using the furniture. We are so proud of every bit of progress they make.

The children have also enjoyed exploring natural resources, including stick painting, broccoli painting, and ice play. They have loved getting messy and discovering new textures.

We are now busy with some secret Christmas business… and we can’t wait for you to see what your baby has made!

Tweenie Room

In the Tweenie Room, we have been learning all about the seasons and how the weather changes. We have also talked about the different foods animals eat in winter. The children have enjoyed planting activities, exploring our role-play shop, and using simple Makaton signs during group time. They have also spent time in the sensory room, which they always enjoy.

We have been encouraging the children to become more independent too. At home, you can support this by letting them practise dressing themselves, pouring their own drinks, and drinking from an open cup. These small steps really help build their confidence and self-help skills.

Pre-school

In the pre-school room we have really enjoyed taking part in a variety of science activities this term. We have been exploring the story of the Gingerbread Man – perhaps you could try some baking at home and share your creations with us!

The children have also been working with Hannah, our cheerleading coach, and Coach Cam, learning new skills, developing confidence, and building important life skills. We have been focusing on our fine motor skills and pencil control, so look out for some home learning activities in the new year.

Butterflies

The Butterflies have had great fun learning about our bodies and healthy eating, following their own interests. They have also enjoyed sessions with Coach Cam, working on developing their coordination.

We have been exploring our emotions and learning how to make friends with each other. The children are also practicing important life skills and developing independence, which we are very proud of.

🏡 Home Learning for All Rooms

This term, we have encouraged families to join in with simple, fun activities at home to support children’s learning — and it has been lovely to see the results.

Thank you to all our families for your creativity and support this year. Taking part in home activities helps children build confidence and develop new skills.

Next year, we look forward to sharing more simple activities for families to enjoy together and continuing to support children’s learning at home.
