We were greeted warmly and soon found our seats, Tom Brailsford the Strategic Director for Children and Families spoke first welcoming us and giving an over view of the days agenda.

He was saying that the first 1100 days of a child’s life (birth to three) are the most critical and as we are there for those days its our early years expertise that aid’s shaping a child’s life.

Following on from him was Kym Scott who gave a great key note presentation about lifting the curriculum from off the page and into practice.

We then all went to our first workshop during the day we all attended different workshops three different ones throughout the day.

This was to aid us with our practice and our curriculum that we deliver in our settings to the children and families.

The day was a fabulous day of inspiring workshops that promoted Communication and Language and home learning with a high emphasis on connections, play and listening.

Emma Brayford gave us an introduction to the big picture in Kirklees and the year of music and then after lunch Kirsty Godfrey senior his Majesty’s Inspector gave us a presentation surrounding the curriculum.
