In preparation for school we have been very busy in the pre school rooms.
We have been looking at our self help skills, trying to put on and fasten our coats, putting on our shoes and dressing ourselves. We also support children with toilet training and ensuring we wash our hands after going to the toilet and before meals/snacks. We also practice listening skills and sitting for periods of time in a group.
We have done activities that help with name recognition and writing our names. We also use phonics to sound out our names.
We have used group time to talk about how going to school makes us feel and we are able to help children with any worries they have and talk about what may happen at school.
The children took part in national transition day and all came back to nursery with really positive things to say about their new schools.
We hope all of the children will enjoy their new schools and take some of the skills that they have learnt at nursery into the next chapter of their lives.
