This term in the baby room, we are focusing on self-care and wellbeing through simple, engaging activities. One of our key experiences involves using mirrors to help babies begin to recognise themselves.
During this activity, babies are encouraged to look into mirrors, make different facial expressions, and point to what they see. As they explore, many begin to name body parts like “nose” and “eyes,” and start to build an early awareness of who they are.
These playful moments support important areas of development, including language, body awareness, and emotional confidence. Recognising themselves in the mirror helps babies begin to understand their own identity and builds the foundation for self-esteem.
It’s a joy to watch their faces light up as they discover, “That’s me!”
