Children’s wellbeing is important for their physical and mental health, and for their ability to grow into healthy adults. Children’s wellbeing depends on the  extent to which the social environment provides opportunities to meet a child’s needs.

In Preschool we encourage well-being for children and have recently introduced a calm area within Preschool. This area has objects to help regulate feelings, emotions, and children having a sense of their own space where they can enjoy some calm time.

During the sessions the children have been learning some meditation, breathing techniques and listen to calming soothing music. to be able to relax their minds and body, to promote this we use soothing calm music and encourage breathing strategies such as inhale and exhale, allowing children to relax their mind and body. This has helped the children with self-control and focus and teaches them coping strategies. The children are beginning to focus on their present thoughts and feelings. The children have started to show more empathy and respect for each other and the staff team have noticed that the children are more relaxed and calmer.
