This term nursery has been celebrating Diwali. All the children also took part in tasting some festival food such as Paneer curry, poppadum’s and other Diwali food. The Diwali festival is celebrated by Sikh and Hindu people. Sikh people do their celebration at the Sikh temple. They go and prepare and then serve traditional food at night time, after this they all light a candle and have lots of lights up for decoration. They also set fireworks off and have a little firework show. Hindu people celebrate in a very similar way but they have it in a Hindu Temple.

The children throughout nursery have taken part in Diwali activities. They made clay candle holders to take home. They had books out at story time to learn about Diwali and what it is. They also made a Rangoli design using coloured rice and pasta and had a display set up with a variety of Diwali objects such as clothes, pictures and candles. They used glow sticks in the water tray to resemble the firework display show. Throughout the day we had a Diwali themed menu.
