In the Tweenie room we have been focusing on different shapes and colours and what they can be used for.

Our focused colour and shape was a pink diamond. We made pink play dough and got the children to cut diamond shapes while asking open ended questions about the activity so the children could become aware of aspects of the activity while absorbed in the fun of it.

Tweenies have also been problem solving, colour matching and shape matching while having lots of fun along the way.

When mixing colours the children became very excited, one child who was helping mixing pink shouted ‘Wow that’s Red’

The parent partnership events are important for us here at nursery rhymes and the children in Tweenies used this time to work with their parents on cutting out shapes and piecing them together to create a house showing how shapes make up  the world around us and are reflected in our immediate environment.
