Today we had a new layout in the baby room. Encouraging ‘Awe and Wonder’.
During this morning session the children demonstrated an interest singing ‘Wheels on a Bus’ by sitting in a box as they sang and acted out the words..
Freely adding this box into their singing time, I made some adjustments by adding wheels and ribbon to further encourage their role play.
The children played amongst themselves for a while with the bus continuing to sing until the wheels fell off.
No longer having wheels we extended play and learning by then adapting the box and using further resources to create a garage to fix the bus using one handed tools’ this play was based on the children’s interest throughout the day and the children enjoyed it.
The children’s chosen play will have helped to develop their communication skills as they sang, patience as they learned to share taking it turns to drive the bus expanding peer relationships.
