This week marked the end of Ramadam. Ramadam is where Muslims around the world fast from sunrise to sunset for 30 days. It’s one of the five pillars of Islam.

The five pillars are: Zakaat – give money to the needy Prayer – five times a day Sawm – fasting

Kalimah – oath Hajj – Pilgrimage to Mecca all Muslims try to do this at least once in a life time.

Eid is celebrated to mark the end of the 30 days of fasting. All families gather together

Men go to the mosque for the morning Eid prayer. Everyone wears their new or best clothes for this occasion. Most men like to visit the graveyards for cherished loved ones they have lost.

The women pray at home and then make preparations for a family get together Eid meal. The families then exchange presents either before or after the meal…

At nursery we joined in these festivities and had our very own Eid Party
