Welcome back to all our children and families and a big Birkbees welcome to all our new children and families. I hope you had a lovely Christmas holiday. We are ready for the new term with lots of learning and fun activities planned for your children. Keep a look out on Parentzone at what your child has been learning in nursery and also check out our Facebook pages and posts to see what’s going on in and around Birkbees.

Staff changes at Birkbees

Kurah has left Birkbees to begin her maternity leave. Her new baby is due to be born in February and we wish her all the best. Whilst she is away, Amanda will be taking the senior role, working alongside Sadia and Rabia. Rabia joined our team in September and is working as a SEN 1:1 support.

We have another new member of staff, Sophia will be working in our Honeybees room on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We would like to welcome Sophia to the Birkbees team.

Learning at home

In nursery the children are presented with a broad curriculum based on the EYFS to stimulate and encourage development in all areas. Staff plan a range of activities based around a theme or topic. Each term they will give out Learning At Home sheets for you to see what the your child will be learning in nursery and some activity ideas for you to carry on this learning at home. Please try and find.

Outdoor Learning

Children learn through play both indoors and outdoors. We plan for this and encourage all children to spend time outside during the nursery day. Please ensure your child has correct clothing for the time of year and the weather!

Term Dates

January 7th to February 15th Half term February 18th to February 22nd.

Family Learning Events

Each term in nursery the rooms hold a family learning Event when parents, grandparents and other carers are asked to come in to nursery and take part in their child’s learning alongside their friends and key person. This is a great opportunity for you to see how your child spends their day and all the playing and learning that takes place.
